About

Tired of reading? Let ReadBeam listen for you.

ReadBeam is a text-to-speech (TTS) reading assistant that turns any webpage into a focused audio experience. It dims the page, spotlights the current sentence, and follows every word with a moving underline as it reads — a listening mode designed for anyone who finds long articles hard to finish.

Select any text on a webpage and a small dot appears. Hover over it to choose "Read from here" or "Read selection." The page goes quiet — just you and the words being read aloud.

HOW IT WORKS
• Select text → a purple dot appears
• Hover → choose how to start
• Page dims, current sentence stays lit
• A purple underline tracks your reading progress line by line
• Scroll away? ReadBeam pauses and asks where to resume

BUILT FOR REAL FOCUS
ReadBeam's immersive reading mode was designed for anyone who finds long articles hard to finish. Whether you're a student grinding through dense textbooks, a professional catching up on industry news, or a writer proofreading your own draft out loud — ReadBeam fits into how you already read. The combination of audio and visual tracking improves comprehension in a way plain text-to-speech can't. Many readers with ADHD or dyslexia find the dual focus helpful for staying on the page.

WHY READBEAM
• Immersive focus mode — page dims, only the current sentence stays visible
• Line-level tracking — a moving underline follows your reading progress line by line
• Drift detection — pauses automatically when you scroll away, asks where to pick up
• Mute mode — visual tracking without audio, ideal for quiet environments
• Multi-language — auto-detects 15+ languages including English, French, German, Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese
• Privacy-first — everything runs locally on your device, no text ever leaves your browser

FREE PLAN
• 45 minutes of daily reading time
• Invite friends to unlock bonus hours (2 hours per invite, valid for 7 days)
• All features included — no feature gating, no paywalls

PERMISSIONS EXPLAINED
ReadBeam injects a lightweight reading interface into web pages so the dot can appear whenever you select text. It saves your preferences locally using browser storage. The only network request is for the optional invite feature — no browsing data, no page content, no personal information is ever collected.

No accounts. No cloud processing. No tracking. ReadBeam uses your browser's built-in speech engine — your text never leaves your device.

A quiet reading companion for the web.
