Gist summarizes whatever you're looking at — any web page, article, or YouTube video — into a clean, scannable summary in seconds, right inside a side panel. Web pages become short, punchy bullets (a one-line TL;DR plus the signal, not the noise). YouTube videos become a structured breakdown with the core question, key points, and takeaways — and every timestamp is clickable, so you jump straight to the moment that matters.

Gist is bring-your-own-key: it uses your own OpenAI API key, so you pay OpenAI directly for exactly what you use — no subscription, no markup, no middleman. Your key is stored on your device and is sent only to OpenAI.

How it works
1. Add your OpenAI API key in Settings (one time).
2. Open any YouTube video or web page and click the Gist icon.
3. Hit Summarize and read the gist — click any timestamp to jump in.

You'll need a free OpenAI account and an API key from platform.openai.com/api-keys. Typical summaries cost a fraction of a cent with GPT-4o mini.
