About

Penshift is a rewriting tool you use on the page you're already writing on, not in a separate tab.

Select any text. A small button appears next to your selection. Click it to:

Paraphrase in eight modes (Standard, Fluency, Formal, Academic, Simple, Creative, Expand, Shorten).
Humanise a stiff or AI-flavoured draft into prose that sounds like a person wrote it.
Fix grammar without flattening your voice.
Summarise a long passage down to the point.
Scan for AI and get a percentage, the sentences that look generated, and a plain-English read on why.
Translate into one of twelve languages.

The result replaces your selection in place, so you stay in the editor you were already in.

If you'd rather not highlight, focus any text field on the web and a small button appears in its corner. One click rewrites the whole field. Right-click also works, with the same actions in your context menu.

The interface is plain on purpose. No chat box, no autosuggestions cutting you off, no "would you like me to help with that".

Privacy.

The extension only reads text you explicitly select or focus. Nothing else on the page is touched. Selected text is sent over TLS to penshift.app, processed, and then discarded. We do not train on your inputs and we do not run analytics on your browsing. Full policy at https://www.penshift.app/privacy.

Sign in once on penshift.app and the extension picks up your session. No API key to manage, no tab to keep open.
