About

Keyfount is a password manager that stores nothing.

Instead of keeping a vault of your passwords, Keyfount recomputes each one on the spot from three things:
• your master password (the only thing you remember)
• the website you're signing in to
• your email or username on that site

The same three inputs always produce the same password — so there's no vault to leak, no sync server to trust, and no cloud backup to breach. The trade-off is deliberate: forget your master password and your passwords are gone.

WHY KEYFOUNT
• No vault, no sync, no cloud — there is nothing stored to steal.
• No network access, ever. The extension contains zero lines of network code.
• No accounts, no tracking, no telemetry, no third-party SDKs.
• Open source (MIT) and reproducible from the public repository.

FEATURES
• Deterministic generation with Argon2id (64 MiB, 3 iterations) — memory-hard against GPU and ASIC brute-force.
• Two output modes: random characters (configurable length and character sets), or a memorable passphrase from the EFF Large Wordlist (~78 bits of entropy at six words).
• Per-site settings to satisfy awkward password rules without breaking the algorithm.
• Counter-based rotation — if a password leaks, bump the counter for a fresh one without changing your master.
• Visual fingerprint — a three-emoji code unique to your master password, shown on unlock, so a typo is obvious before you submit.
• Optional PIN unlock (4–6 digits) for convenience, with a clear warning about the trade-off.
• Inline badge on password fields — one click to fill or copy.

HOW IT'S DIFFERENT
A traditional manager encrypts and stores a vault you must protect and keep in sync. Keyfount derives passwords from a short algorithm, so the only secret is the one in your head. Less to store, less to sync, less to leak.

PRIVACY
Keyfount collects no data of any kind. Your master password is processed locally and never leaves your device.
