About

Whatnot Seller Analytics — Live Stream Insights

Stop flying blind during your live shows.

If you sell on Whatnot, you know the rush. Items are moving, bids are coming in, chat is blowing up. You feel like you're doing well. But when the stream ends, what do you actually know? How much did you gross? What were the fees? Who were your top buyers? You don't know -- because Whatnot doesn't tell you in real time.

Most sellers finish a show and wait days for the financials to settle. By then, the momentum is gone. You can't adjust your next show based on data you don't have yet.

That's the gap this extension fills.

WHY LIVE SELLING ANALYTICS ARE SO HARD

Whatnot is built for buyers, not sellers. The platform gives you a great streaming experience, but the seller dashboard is an afterthought when it comes to real-time insights.

Here's what you're dealing with:

- No live GMV counter during your stream. You're guessing your gross while you sell.
- No visibility into who your repeat buyers are. That loyal customer who bought 8 items? You'd never know without manually tracking.
- Whatnot's fee structure -- 8% commission plus 2.9% plus $0.30 per transaction -- makes mental math nearly impossible during a fast-paced show.
- Post-show reporting is delayed and lacks the granularity sellers need to optimize.
- No way to compare show performance over time without building your own spreadsheets.

Most sellers either ignore the data entirely or spend hours after each show manually reconstructing what happened. Neither approach scales.

This extension gives you the data layer that Whatnot doesn't.

WHAT THIS EXTENSION DOES

Whatnot Seller Analytics is a lightweight Chrome extension that overlays real-time sales tracking, buyer intelligence, and profit analytics directly on top of your Whatnot live stream page. No spreadsheets. No manual counting. No waiting for settlement reports.

It runs entirely in your browser, reads what's already on your screen, and organizes it into actionable data while you sell.

Here's what you get:

Live Sales Dashboard -- A floating panel that shows your running GMV, net revenue, items sold, average sale price, revenue per hour, and elapsed time. Updated every few seconds, automatically.

Viewer Tracking -- Real-time viewer count and peak viewer count throughout your show. See exactly when your audience peaks so you can time your high-value drops.

Product Monitoring -- Tracks all listed products, their prices, and quantities. When a quantity drops, it registers as a sale and updates your totals immediately.

Profit Calculator -- Enter any sale price and item cost, and instantly see the breakdown: Whatnot's 8% commission, the 2.9% + $0.30 processing fee, your cost of goods, and your net profit with margin percentage. Works for individual items and aggregates across your entire show.

Buyer Intelligence -- Identifies and ranks your buyers by total spend, purchase count, and average order value. Surfaces your top customers so you know who to engage with during and after the stream.

Post-Show Reports -- One click generates a full analytics report: total GMV, net revenue, fee breakdown, top-selling items, top buyers, and a time-based sales chart showing how revenue flowed throughout the show.

CSV Export -- Download your buyer data as a CSV file for your own records, CRM import, or tax preparation.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Install the extension and navigate to any Whatnot live stream.
2. The analytics panel appears automatically in the top-right corner. A floating button lets you open and close it anytime.
3. Switch between four tabs -- Live, Buyers, Profit, and Report -- to see different views of your data.
4. Use the Profit tab to calculate margins on individual items during downtime.
5. When your show ends, click Generate Report for a full post-show summary.

That's it. No setup. No configuration. No account creation. It starts working the moment you open a live stream.

WHY A FLOATING OVERLAY

Pop-up extensions lose your data every time you close them. A dedicated dashboard means switching tabs mid-stream. Neither works when you're actively selling.

The floating overlay sits on top of your Whatnot page, visible while you stream. You can glance at your numbers without interrupting your flow. Close it when you don't need it. Open it when you do. It stays in sync with your page the entire time.

REAL-TIME SHOW PROFIT SUMMARY

The extension calculates your show-level finances as sales happen:

- Gross Sales -- your total GMV
- Total Fees -- the sum of all commissions and processing fees across every transaction
- Net Revenue -- what you actually take home

You don't have to wait for the Whatnot seller dashboard to update. You see it live, during your show.

BUYER LEADERBOARD

Every buyer who purchases during your stream gets tracked and ranked. The leaderboard shows:

- Rank by total spend
- Username
- Number of items purchased
- Average price per item
- Total amount spent

This data is stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB. It persists across sessions, so returning buyers accumulate history over multiple shows. Nothing is sent to any server.

REAL SCENARIOS WHERE THIS HELPS

Show Pacing:
You're 45 minutes into a 2-hour Pokemon card stream. Your GMV is $340 and revenue per hour shows $453. You know you're on pace for a strong show and can decide whether to extend or wrap up based on actual numbers.

Fee Awareness:
You sold an item for $25. Before fees, that felt good. The profit calculator shows you: $2.00 commission, $1.03 processing fee. Your actual take is $21.98. Now multiply that awareness across 50 items per show. Small margins matter.

Repeat Buyer Recognition:
A buyer named "cardcollector99" has purchased 6 items totaling $187 during your stream. The leaderboard surfaces this. You can shout them out live, thank them by name, and build the kind of loyalty that keeps them coming back.

Post-Show Review:
Your show just ended. Instead of waiting for Whatnot's financials, you click Generate Report. In seconds, you see: $1,247 GMV, $1,107 after fees, 62 items sold, average sale $20.11, peak viewers at 234. You screenshot this and share it with your reseller group.

Pricing Decisions:
You're about to list a box of vintage sneakers. Cost was $35. You open the Profit tab, enter $35 cost and test different sale prices: at $75 you net $31.33 (41.8% margin), at $60 you net $17.58 (29.3%). The math takes 2 seconds instead of 2 minutes.

Multi-Show Comparison:
After running 10 shows this month, you review your saved reports. Your Tuesday night shows consistently outperform weekends by 40% in revenue per hour. You adjust your schedule accordingly.

WHAT THIS EXTENSION DOES NOT DO

- It does not access your Whatnot seller account or credentials
- It does not send any data to external servers -- everything stays in your browser
- It does not modify your Whatnot page, listings, or account settings
- It does not intercept or proxy any network requests

The only permissions it uses:

- storage -- To save your preferences and buyer history locally in your browser
- tabs -- To detect when you're on a Whatnot page and show the correct status in the popup

That's it. No external connections. No data collection. No tracking. The extension reads what's already visible on your screen and organizes it for you.

FREE TIER

The core analytics dashboard is free. Real-time GMV tracking, viewer counts, and the profit calculator work without any subscription.

Advanced features -- including unlimited show history, full buyer leaderboard, CSV export, and show-over-show comparison -- will be available through a Pro plan. Pro pricing and availability will be announced soon.

THE MATH BEHIND THE PROFIT CALCULATOR

Every calculation uses Whatnot's published fee structure:

Commission: sale price x 8%
Processing fee: (sale price x 2.9%) + $0.30
Total fees: commission + processing fee
Net revenue: sale price - total fees
Profit: net revenue - item cost
Margin: (profit / sale price) x 100

No hidden logic. No rounding tricks. The same math Whatnot applies to your payouts.

WHO THIS IS FOR

- Whatnot sellers who want real-time visibility into show performance
- Resellers tracking margins across high-volume live sales
- New Whatnot sellers who want to understand fee impact before they start
- Power sellers comparing performance across multiple shows per week
- Anyone who's tired of waiting days after a show to know how they did

GETTING STARTED

Install the extension, open a Whatnot live stream, and look for the analytics button in the corner of your screen. Your first data point appears within seconds.

No account needed. No sign-up. No credit card. Just real numbers while you sell.
