YouGist turns any YouTube video into a fast, detailed summary you can actually read in 30 seconds.

WHAT IT DOES

BRING YOUR OWN AI
YouGist does not charge for summaries and includes no AI account of its own. You connect it to an AI provider you already use, and your usage is billed by that provider directly. Free local model runners are also supported if you prefer to keep everything on your own machine.

Your API keys stay in your browser. They are sent directly from your browser to the provider's official API, never to YouGist's servers.

WHY THE BACKEND IS THERE
YouTube blocks browser-origin requests to its caption API for auto-generated transcripts, so the extension fetches captions through a small developer-hosted backend (yougist.kuberscan.com). The backend ONLY fetches transcripts — your API keys and the final summary content never touch it.
