About

AI EnterSafe is a Chrome extension for AI chat services such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude. It helps prevent accidental sends with the Enter key and lets you quickly reuse prompts you use often.

Use Enter for line breaks, and send messages with your chosen shortcut: Cmd/Ctrl + Enter, Shift + Enter, or Alt/Option + Enter. This makes it easier to write longer prompts calmly, including while composing text with an IME, without worrying about sending before you are ready.

Settings and snippet management are available from the AI EnterSafe popup, opened from the extension icon in the upper-right area of the Chrome toolbar. If you use it often, pin AI EnterSafe from the extensions menu so you can open it directly from the toolbar.

Main features:

- Prevent accidental sends with the Enter key
- Choose a send shortcut from Cmd/Ctrl + Enter, Shift + Enter, or Alt/Option + Enter
- Keyboard handling that takes IME composition into account
- Create, search, edit, and delete snippets
- Expand snippets with slash commands such as /summary
- Quick actions for summarizing, polite rewriting, bullet points, and English translation
- Variable expansion with {{clipboard}}, {{selection}}, {{date}}, {{url}}, and more
- Use the current input field text with the {{text}} variable
- Create prompts using the URL and page title of the last non-AI-chat page you viewed
- Show a character count while typing
- Automatically save, restore, and delete drafts locally
- Optionally delete drafts automatically after sending
- UI support for English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, French, German, Spanish, and Korean

Good for:

- People who sometimes press Enter in an AI chat and send a message before it is ready
- People who want to edit longer prompts calmly
- People who reuse template prompts for summaries, reviews, rewrites, translation, and similar tasks
- People who want to build prompts quickly from clipboard text or selected text
- People who want AI chat drafts to stay available after switching pages

Supported sites:

- ChatGPT: chatgpt.com, chat.openai.com
- Gemini: gemini.google.com
- Claude: claude.ai

Snippets and variables:

Save frequently used requests as snippets and insert them into the input field from the popup. If you set a shortcut name, you can type something like /summary in an AI chat input field and press Enter to expand it into the full snippet text.

Snippet text can include variables for selected text, clipboard text, today's date, the current time, the input field text, and the URL or title of the last regular page you viewed. URLs are used without query strings or hashes.

Draft saving:

Text you are typing is automatically saved in your browser for each supported AI chat page. If you close the page, reload it, or move to another task, you can restore a saved draft when needed. Drafts are saved per page using the page origin + pathname.

Privacy:

Snippets, drafts, and the URL and title of the last regular page you viewed are stored in your browser. Regular page URLs and titles expire after 30 minutes. Settings may be saved in the browser's sync storage.

The extension itself does not send saved data, clipboard text, selected text, or input field text to external servers. Clipboard text, selected text, and input field text are used only when you insert snippets or expand variables. Content that you send yourself in an AI chat is handled according to the AI service you are using.

Note:

This extension does not use the official APIs or private APIs of each AI service. It works by detecting input fields and send buttons on the page, so some features may become less reliable if those services change their user interface.
