About

Deftery — Save anything to Google NotebookLM in a single keystroke.

NotebookLM Clipper - Deftery is a free Chrome extension that pushes web content directly into your Google NotebookLM notebooks. No copy-paste, no detour through a "saved clips" folder, no waiting for a public API. Deftery talks to NotebookLM the same way the NotebookLM web app does and adds your sources where they belong.

WHY DEFTERY?

Researchers, writers, students, and knowledge workers who use Google NotebookLM as a thinking environment know the pain: every interesting page, article, or video has to be opened in NotebookLM, pasted as a source, named, and saved — one at a time. Deftery removes the friction. One keystroke or one right-click sends the page straight to your last-used notebook.

WHAT IT DOES

1. Quick-save shortcut
Press Ctrl+Shift+S (Windows / Linux) or Cmd+Shift+S (Mac) to send the current page directly to your last-used NotebookLM notebook. No popup, no prompts, instant.

2. Right-click menu
Right-click any page, selection, link, or image and send it straight to NotebookLM. Selections become text sources, everything else becomes a web source.

3. Popup capture
Click the toolbar icon to see page metadata, the current selection, detected RSS feeds, page links, and YouTube playlist info — then pick a notebook and send.

4. Bulk import
Paste a list of URLs (one per line) or pick from links detected on the current page, then import them all into a notebook in batches. Filter by YouTube, PDF, or external links.

5. RSS feed import
Deftery auto-detects RSS and Atom feeds on the current page or accepts a feed URL directly. Pick the items you want and import them as NotebookLM sources in one click.

6. YouTube one-click on every page
On any YouTube watch page Deftery injects a "→ NotebookLM" button next to Like and Share — one click adds the current video as a NotebookLM source. On a channel's Videos tab the same button sits next to Subscribe and imports every video on the channel (up to 500) in one batch. On a playlist page open the popup and use "Import Playlist Videos" to push the entire playlist.

7. Notebook management
List, create, and delete NotebookLM notebooks from inside the extension. Notebooks are cached locally so the UI stays responsive even when the API is briefly unreachable.

8. Audio overview trigger
Generate NotebookLM's audio overviews from the Notebooks tab. Export saved overviews as a podcast RSS feed for any podcast player.

9. Multi-account support
Multiple Google accounts? Switch the Google account index in Settings — Deftery talks to the right NotebookLM instance.

10. 8 UI languages
English, German, Turkish, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Polish. The popup uses your browser language by default and can be overridden manually in Settings.

FREE FOREVER

Deftery is free. No paid tier, no PRO upsell, no in-extension purchases, no ads, no usage limits, no telemetry. It stays free because minoka.de builds it as a utility for the NotebookLM community.

PRIVACY-FIRST

Deftery does not track you. No analytics scripts, no usage events, no third-party calls. The only servers Deftery contacts are:
- notebooklm.google.com — to send your sources to NotebookLM (uses your existing Google login)
- youtube.com — to read playlist video lists when you import a YouTube playlist
- RSS feed URLs you explicitly choose to import

Your settings, last-used notebook, and language override live in chrome.storage.local on your own machine. Nothing is shipped to minoka.de. Read the full privacy policy at https://minoka.de/deftery/datenschutz/ (DE) or https://minoka.de/en/deftery/privacy/ (EN).

PERMISSIONS — WHY DEFTERY NEEDS THEM

- activeTab: read the page you are currently looking at when you press the shortcut or use the right-click menu
- contextMenus: the right-click "Add to NotebookLM" menu items
- storage: remember your last-used notebook, language override, and Google account index
- tabs: read URLs and titles when bulk-importing detected links
- host_permissions for notebooklm.google.com: talk to the NotebookLM API on your behalf
- host_permissions for *.youtube.com: read playlist video lists during YouTube playlist import
- content scripts on <all_urls>: extract page metadata and selected text when you trigger a save

No data leaves your browser except to the destinations listed above, and only when you trigger an action.

WORKS WITH

- Google NotebookLM (current consumer version)
- Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, and other Chromium-based browsers
- Manifest V3 service worker model

DOES NOT REQUIRE

- A NotebookLM API key (NotebookLM does not offer a public API)
- A minoka.de account
- An internet connection beyond Google's own NotebookLM and the websites you want to save

GET STARTED IN THREE STEPS

1. Install: click "Add to Chrome".
2. Sign into Google in the same browser profile and open NotebookLM at least once.
3. Open the Deftery popup, pick a notebook, then start using the keyboard shortcut or right-click menu.
