About
Insho Capture is the browser half of Insho — a private research memory that lives on your computer. When you read an article, a docs page, or a thoughtful blog post, this extension extracts the readable text and sends it to the Insho desktop app running on your machine (or another Mac on your local network). Insho organizes what you've read into themes and surfaces it back to you when you ask questions, so you can find that one paragraph from three weeks ago without remembering where you saw it. Your reading stays on your machine. Captured pages go to the Insho desktop app you installed — no cloud, no external server, nothing leaves your network. If you pair the extension with an Insho app on a different Mac (e.g. your home server), the extension and that machine talk over your local network only. We never see your data. What this extension does Extracts the main readable content of pages you visit (using Defuddle, the same library Reader Mode uses) Skips internal pages (chrome://, file://, localhost) automatically Buffers captures locally if the Insho app is offline; flushes them when it's back Tracks how long you spent reading and how far you scrolled, so the app can weight what was important to you Optional reaction mode: tap an emoji on any page to leave a quick note What this extension does NOT do Send anything to a server we operate Run on chrome://, file://, or local URLs Capture pages while paused (toggle from the popup) Work on its own — you need the Insho desktop app, available at https://insho.ai Setup Install this extension. Install the Insho macOS app from https://insho.ai Open the app once. The extension's status badge turns green. Browse normally. Captures appear in the Insho app's "Recent" list. For multi-machine setups (extension on a laptop, Insho app on a desktop), open the extension's settings, paste the daemon address and pairing secret shown in the Insho app's settings panel.
