Redact — Privacy-safe sharing in seconds.

Accidentally pasting a phone number into a Slack message, or sharing a screenshot with a visible API key or SSN, can have real consequences. Redact stops that before it happens.

HOW IT WORKS
• Paste or type any text → Redact highlights every piece of PII it finds (emails, phones, credit cards, API keys, SSNs, IP addresses, and more).
• Choose which categories to redact, pick a style (solid black bar, label, or hash), then click Redact.
• Drop a screenshot into the Image tab, draw rectangles over sensitive areas, and export a clean PNG — with metadata stripped automatically.
• Everything runs entirely on your device. Nothing is sent to any server except a one-time license check when you activate a Pro key.

PRIVACY FIRST
No account required. No data collected. No telemetry. No analytics. All redaction happens in your browser. The only network request the extension ever makes is a license verification call to Gumroad when you enter a Pro key — and that result is cached locally so subsequent use works fully offline.

PERMISSIONS — minimal and justified
• storage: saves your category preferences and (if Pro) your cached license status locally. Nothing leaves your device via this API.

Note: Opening the editor tab uses chrome.tabs.create (no permission required). Serving bundled worker, WASM, and language-data assets uses chrome.runtime.getURL (no permission required). Neither API requires a manifest permission entry.
