You already know you've been scrolling too long. The problem isn't awareness — it's that nothing actually stops you.

Touch the Grass fixes that. Set a daily time limit for social media browsing. When you hit it, three animated grass critters take over your screen with a fullscreen nature scene and a countdown timer. The page is locked until your break is done. No dismissing it. No scrolling past it. A hard stop, enforced by tiny animals who are genuinely disappointed in you.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Set your usage limit — how many minutes of social media per session before a break triggers
2. Set your break duration — how long the critters stay on screen
3. Browse normally — the extension tracks active tab time silently in the background
4. When your limit hits, the fullscreen overlay appears with a countdown timer
5. When the break ends, the overlay lifts and your timer resets automatically

The timer only counts when a social media tab is your active, focused tab. Switch to another app, minimize the browser, or open a different tab and the timer pauses. It only counts time you are actually spending on social media.

MEET THE CRITTERS

Three characters rotate through your break, each with a distinct personality and 50 unique comments. A new line appears every 30 seconds, calculated automatically from your break duration.

🐢 Mossy Turtle — Patient, ancient, deeply unimpressed. Opens your break with quiet, time-weighted disappointment.

🐰 Grass Bunny — Energetic and dramatic. Cannot believe you are still here. Escalates if the turtle's wisdom didn't land.

🐦 Leaf Bird — Wise and final. Closes your break with a push toward going outside with actual intention.

SETTINGS

Both settings are fully adjustable — type a number directly into the field or use the buttons.

Usage Limit: 1 to 480 minutes
Break Duration: 1 to 60 minutes

Changing settings never resets your active timer. Your progress is always preserved.

PRIVACY

Touch the Grass collects nothing. No analytics. No telemetry. No account required. Your settings are stored locally on your device and never transmitted anywhere. There is no server. There is no backend.

The extension accesses browser tabs only to detect whether a social media site is your active tab and to display the break overlay when your limit is reached. No page content is ever read or recorded.
