About

ChatGPT Export is a Chrome MV3 extension for saving ChatGPT web conversations as Markdown files.

The default export target is local browser downloads. If you want remote sync, you can optionally send exports to your own HTTPS WebDAV server.

What it does:
- exports the current ChatGPT conversation as conversations/{chat_name}.md
- maintains a manifest.json index for exported conversations
- automatically re-exports the current conversation when you open a conversation page and when the latest assistant reply becomes stable
- lets you manually export the current conversation or the full conversation list available in your current logged-in ChatGPT session

How the UI is organized:
- the popup is the main control surface for automatic export, export target selection, and manual export actions
- the options page is focused on logs, run state, diagnostics, and diagnostic bundle export

Privacy and data handling:
- the extension only runs on ChatGPT web pages that you already open and have access to
- it reads conversation data and related page-context values only to call same-origin ChatGPT endpoints required for export
- it does not send exported conversations to a developer-owned server
- if WebDAV is enabled, exported files are sent only to the HTTPS WebDAV server that you configure
- WebDAV usernames and passwords are currently stored locally in chrome.storage.local on your device

Current limits:
- works only on chatgpt.com and chat.openai.com
- WebDAV supports HTTPS only in the public/store release
- automatic export controls only automatic current-conversation export; manual exports remain available
