    description
New Tab Bookmark Columns replaces Chrome's default new tab with side-by-side columns of your bookmark folders. Resize them, reorder them, mix in widgets, and pick a theme that fits your setup. No accounts, no syncing, no telemetry — everything lives in your local Chrome profile.

    ━ FEATURES ━

    • Resizable columns
Drag the dividers between columns to set the width you want. Layout is saved per-profile.

    • Inline edit mode
Add, remove, and reorder columns and folders directly on the page. Drag the column header to move it; drag a folder chip to move it within or between columns.

    • Drag-and-drop bookmarks
Reorder bookmarks and subfolders inside a folder with a familiar macOS Finder-style horizontal drop indicator. Bookmarks can be moved across folders too.

    • Subfolders inline
Folders inside folders are shown as collapsible groups in their natural order. Open/closed state is remembered.

    • Per-column hidden state
Hide a folder in one column without affecting it elsewhere. The same folder can live in multiple columns and behave independently.

    • Built-in widgets
      - Recently added — your newest bookmarks.
      - Status — total bookmarks, unique domains, duplicate bookmarks.
      - Search — instant filter across every bookmark.

    • Themes
Light, dark, or follow system. The system option listens for changes live.

    • Display controls
Toggle bookmark dividers, folder title dividers, column dividers, and visibility of hidden items.

    • Favicons
Site icons with an apple-touch-icon fallback chain. Icons are cached per-domain so new tabs open instantly.

    ━ PERMISSIONS ━

    • bookmarks — read and write your Chrome bookmark tree (required to display and edit bookmarks).
    • storage — save your layout, theme, and favicon cache locally.
    • favicon — load site icons via Chrome's internal favicon URL.

This extension does not contact any third-party server. The only outbound request is to each bookmarked domain's apple-touch-icon.png as part of the favicon fallback.

    ━ KEYBOARD ━

    • Esc — close the settings panel, or exit edit mode.
