About

Quick Region Screenshot lets you capture exactly what you see—no extra UI, no full-page clutter. Open the overlay, drag the resizable frame anywhere, and save the selected area as a PNG with a single click. It’s built for speed and convenience.

Key features

One-click overlay from the toolbar or Ctrl+Q (Alt+Q on macOS) to toggle.

Resizable & movable frame with edge/corner dragging; arrow keys for pixel-perfect nudges.

Instant PNG save (no watermark, no compression loss).

Remembers your last frame per-site (optional per-origin persistence) so repeated shots are faster.

No screen dim option (overlay can be transparent—just the frame and buttons).

Multilingual UI: English (default), Vietnamese, Russian (add more via _locales anytime).

How to use

Open any web page (http/https).

Click the extension icon or press Ctrl+Q (Alt+Q on macOS) to show the overlay.

Drag the frame to position and resize it.

Drag edges/corners to resize in any direction.

Use Arrow keys to nudge (hold Shift for 10px steps).

Click Capture to save as PNG. The overlay stays open so you can capture again.

Click Cancel (or press Ctrl+Q again) to close the overlay.

Keyboard shortcuts

Toggle overlay: Ctrl+Q (Windows/Linux/ChromeOS), Alt+Q (macOS).

Capture: Enter

Cancel/close: Esc or toggle key again

Nudge frame: Arrow keys (hold Shift for larger steps)

Tip: You can change or add shortcuts in chrome://extensions/shortcuts.

Why these permissions?

activeTab / tabs – to inject the minimal overlay UI into the current page when you toggle it.

scripting – to load the overlay CSS/JS.

downloads – to save the captured PNG automatically.

storage – to remember your last frame size/position (per site).

Privacy

We do not collect or transmit any personal data. Captures happen locally, and images are saved directly to your device via Chrome’s download API. No analytics, no tracking.

Limitations

Works on web pages (http/https). Chrome’s built-in security blocks overlays on chrome:// pages, the Web Store listing, and some protected pages.

Captures the visible area of the tab (like Chrome’s “Capture visible tab”). If content is behind scroll, scroll it into view first.

Troubleshooting

Overlay doesn’t appear?

Ensure you’re on an http/https page.

Check chrome://extensions → enable the extension → click Reload.

See the Service Worker logs for errors (background page).

Shortcut doesn’t work?

Set or change it at chrome://extensions/shortcuts, ensure it doesn’t conflict with other apps.

What’s new

Fast toggle (Ctrl+Q), overlay persists after capture.

Edge/corner resizing with accurate cursors.

Per-site frame memory for rapid repeat shots.

Optional no-dim overlay for a clean look.
