About

UTM Tagger & GA4 Debugger lets you automatically append custom UTM tracking parameters to every URL you visit — and instantly activate GA4 DebugView mode with a single toggle.

─── WHAT IT DOES ───────────────────────────────────

UTM TAGGING
Set your utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, and utm_content parameters once. The extension silently appends them to every page navigation, but only when you enable it — and only for parameters not already present in the URL. You can also add unlimited custom query parameters beyond the standard UTM set.

GA4 DEBUG MODE
When enabled, the extension intercepts outgoing GA4 /g/collect requests and appends _dbg=1 to their query string. This routes your browser's GA4 hits into the GA4 DebugView panel in real time — using the exact same method as Google's official Google Analytics Debugger extension.

4 CLEAR STATES
The extension icon reflects the current mode at a glance:
• Grey — inactive
• Blue — UTM tagging active
• Amber — GA4 Debug active
• Green — both active

─── WHO IT'S FOR ───────────────────────────────────

• Digital marketers and marketing agencies auditing client websites
• QA testers who need to isolate internal or test traffic in analytics
• Developers validating GA4 tracking implementations before going live
• Analytics consultants running session-level tracking verification

─── TYPICAL USE CASES ──────────────────────────────

• Tag internal or agency browsing sessions to separate them from real user traffic in GA4 reports
• Validate that UTM parameters are correctly attributed in GA4 before launching a campaign
• Use GA4 DebugView to inspect events, parameters, and user properties in real time without polluting live data
• Isolate QA sessions from production analytics using a unique utm_campaign

─── WHAT IT DOES NOT DO ────────────────────────────

• Does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data
• Does not read page content
• Does not modify page content or DOM
• Does not inject scripts into pages
• Does not send any data to external servers
• Does not track your browsing history
• All settings are stored locally in your browser only

─── PERMISSIONS EXPLAINED ──────────────────────────

• "Read and change all your data on all websites" — required to append UTM parameters to navigation URLs and to intercept GA4 collect requests for debug mode. The extension only modifies outgoing request URLs; it never reads or stores page content.
• webNavigation — required to detect navigation events and append UTM parameters before the request is sent
• storage — used to save your UTM settings and on/off state locally in your browser
• declarativeNetRequest — used to add _dbg=1 to GA4 /g/collect requests for DebugView mode only
