About

Transllmator is a prompt-powered writing and translation assistant for Chrome that rewrites text using any OpenAI API-compatible LLM endpoint.

It is not limited to literal language translation. With Transllmator, a “language” can be a real language, a tone, a persona, a writing style, or a custom instruction. That means you can translate text from English to Spanish, English to Japanese, English to formal business email, English to “LinkedIn Speak,” plain text to polished customer support tone, rough notes to concise executive summary, and more.

Whether you want to sound more professional, more casual, more persuasive, more diplomatic, or just different, Transllmator lets you define reusable translation modes and apply them anywhere you type.

Why Transllmator is different

Custom OpenAI-compatible endpoint support
Use your own OpenAI API-compatible provider and model. Each saved configuration can include its own endpoint, API key, model, and prompt behavior.

Popup translator
Use the extension popup to paste text, translate it, and copy or reuse the result quickly. This is great for one-off rewrites, message cleanup, and style conversions.

Translate directly inside text fields
Transllmator can work where you already type. It can read text from supported input fields, textareas, and many contenteditable editors, send it to your configured model, then inject the transformed version back into the field.

Typing-pause based transformation
Write naturally first. Then let Transllmator wait for a pause in typing before translating or rewriting the content and reinserting it into the field. This helps keep your flow uninterrupted while still giving you AI-assisted output.

Field-aware workflow
Instead of forcing you into a separate app, Transllmator is designed to fit into real-world typing workflows such as chat boxes, comment fields, web forms, notes, and browser-based writing tools.

Reusable prompt-based “languages”

How it works

1. Create one or more saved configurations.
2. For each configuration, set your OpenAI-compatible API endpoint, model, API key, and translation instruction.
3. Use the popup to translate text manually, or use Transllmator in supported text fields on web pages.
4. Draft first, then let the extension transform your text into the selected target style or language.

Transllmator is intentionally built around configurable prompts instead of hardcoded language pairs. This gives you much more freedom than traditional translators. You can use it as:

Privacy and control

Transllmator is designed for users who want control over where requests go. You provide the endpoint and model. Your text is sent only to the API-compatible service you configure when you choose to use the extension or enable a workflow that triggers it.

API keys and configuration data are stored locally in the extension for convenience.
