About

Homestake Helper — Dig Any Page, Access Paid Content

Homestake (app.homestake.app) is a content processing platform that transforms articles, videos, and podcasts into structured, actionable insights. Instead of re-reading long articles or rewatching hour-long videos, Homestake extracts the key points — called "glints" — so you can quickly find what matters.

The Homestake Helper extension brings two powerful features to your browser toolbar:

1. DIG THIS PAGE

See an interesting article, blog post, or video? Click the Homestake icon in your toolbar and hit "Dig This Page." Homestake opens with the URL pre-filled and ready to process. The popup shows you the page title and domain so you always know exactly what you're sending.

How it works:
- Browse the web normally
- Find content worth digging into
- Click the Homestake Helper icon
- Hit "Dig This Page"
- Homestake opens and begins processing your content into structured insights

It works with articles, blog posts, YouTube videos, podcast pages, and more.

2. SUBSTACK COOKIE HELPER

If you subscribe to paid Substack newsletters, Homestake can process your paywalled articles — but it needs your login session to access them. The extension securely extracts your Substack session cookie so Homestake can read the full article on your behalf.

How it works:
- Log into Substack in your browser
- Click the Homestake Helper icon
- The extension shows whether your Substack cookie is available
- Copy the cookie or let Homestake request it automatically
- Homestake uses your session to access paid articles, then processes them into insights

The extension supports both substack.com and custom Substack domains (like newsletter.yourfavoritewriter.com). When Homestake encounters a custom domain, you'll see a one-click permission prompt — grant access and the extension handles the rest.

PRIVACY AND SECURITY

Your privacy matters. Here is exactly what the extension does and does not do:

- The extension only reads your current tab's URL when you click "Dig This Page." It never monitors your browsing.
- Substack cookies are only read when you explicitly click to extract them or when Homestake requests them. The extension never reads cookies in the background.
- Data is sent only to Homestake servers (app.homestake.app). Nothing is shared with third parties.
- No browsing history is collected. No analytics or tracking scripts run. No data is sold.
- The extension requests minimal permissions: only what is needed for cookie access and the active tab.
- Custom domain permissions are optional and granted only when you click "Grant Access."

REQUIREMENTS

- A Homestake account (free tier available at app.homestake.app)
- For Substack cookie extraction: an active Substack login in the same browser

ABOUT HOMESTAKE

Homestake uses a mining metaphor throughout the product. Your processed content lives in "digs." You organize them into "mines" (folders). The key insights extracted are "glints." And when you find something truly valuable, you save it as "gold." The Homestake Helper extension is your pickaxe for the open web — point it at any page and start digging.
