    description
Tech support scammers use browser APIs to make your computer appear frozen, then display fake virus warnings with phone numbers to call. These attacks target elderly and non-technical users who don't know how to escape.

    ScamShield stops these attacks automatically:

    HOW IT WORKS
    - Monitors five browser APIs that scammers abuse: fullscreen, pointer lock, keyboard lock, beforeunload traps, and history spam
    - Detects scam patterns: multiple APIs fired in quick succession, or rapid repeated calls to the same API
    - Blocks the attack instantly — no popups, no decisions, no configuration needed
    - Shows a notification so you know you were protected

    WHAT IT BLOCKS
    - Fullscreen takeovers that hide browser controls
    - Pointer lock that makes your mouse disappear
    - Keyboard lock that traps Escape, Alt+Tab, and other exit keys
    - Beforeunload traps that spam "are you sure you want to leave?" dialogs
    - History spam that breaks your back button
    - Combo attacks that use multiple techniques at once

    PRIVACY
    - No data collection whatsoever
    - No analytics, no tracking, no ads
    - All detection happens locally in your browser
    - Open source: https://github.com/robbalian/scamblock

    PERFECT FOR
    - Installing on a parent's or grandparent's computer
    - Anyone who wants protection from browser-based scams
    - Security-conscious users who want defense in depth

    Privacy policy: https://scamblock.vercel.app/privacy.html

    ## Screenshots needed
    1. Popup showing blocked events log
    2. Notification when a scam is blocked
    3. Demo site showing the attack being blocked

Digital scams are a $20B+ business in the US.
Fake virus warnings, frozen-screen hijacks, phony "Microsoft support" numbers, phishing links that look real.

Cody catches them and shuts them down. Nothing to configure. It just works.

And you can Ask Cody about any page or email to get his take on if it's real. Cody is an AI that is on your side.

    WHAT CODY BLOCKS
    - Fullscreen, pointer, and keyboard hijacks that trap you on a page
    - Fake virus warnings and "call this number" scams
    - Dialog and popup spam, back-button traps
    - Phishing links (brand impersonation, punycode, lookalike domains, shorteners, and more)
    - Remote-access tool pages (TeamViewer, AnyDesk, LogMeIn) — flagged in bright red
    - Dangerous downloads (.exe, .msi, .bat, .scr…)
    - Unexpected screen-share and clipboard grabs

    HOW IT WORKS

Cody loads before page scripts do and patches the browser APIs that scams rely on. When it sees a scam pattern it blocks the page and shows a calm banner so you know what happened.

    PRIVACY
    - All detection runs locally in your browser
    - No tracking, no analytics, no ads, no data sold
    - Optional family dashboard (requires sign-in) lets you share blocked events with people you choose
    - Open source: https://github.com/robbalian/scamblock

    GOOD FOR
    - A parent's or grandparent's computer
    - Anyone who's been burned by a scam page before
    - Anyone who wants a quiet, always-on safety net while browsing
