Changelog

  • May 27, 2026
    description
ISS Current Location Badge lets you track the International Space Station directly from the Chrome toolbar.

    Features:
    - Live toolbar badge showing ISS status
    - Popup with the latest ISS latitude and longitude
    - Compact map view of the current ISS position
    - Optional use of your current location to estimate the next overhead pass
    - Local pass prediction using TLE orbital data
    - Diagnostic logs for visible troubleshooting
    - Multi-language popup UI

    How it works:
    - The extension refreshes ISS position data in the background on a fixed interval
    - It fetches orbital TLE data to estimate future overhead passes
    - If you choose to allow location access, the extension uses your location only to calculate pass timing for your area
    - Location access is requested only after explicit user action inside the popup

    Data sources:
    - Open Notify for current ISS position
    - CelesTrak for orbital TLE data
    - OpenStreetMap tiles for map display

    Who it is for:
    - Space enthusiasts
    - Students and teachers
    - Users who want a lightweight ISS tracker in Chrome

    Notes:
    - Overhead pass prediction depends on location permission and availability of TLE data
    - If live data cannot be fetched, the extension falls back to the last cached state and shows a visible error status
    - Some optional feedback features may send user-provided responses and related technical metadata only when the user explicitly chooses to submit feedback
