  Claude Usage Reset Reminder is a lightweight Chrome extension that automatically tracks when your Claude.ai rate limits will reset — so you can step away and come back at exactly the right time.
  
  The problem
  
  Claude.ai enforces usage limits, but there's no built-in countdown telling you when your access will be restored. You're left guessing, refreshing the page, or setting manual timers. This extension solves that.
  
  How it works
  
  The extension monitors your activity on claude.ai and starts two independent timers the moment you send your first message:
  
  Session timer: Tracks your per-session rate limit, which resets 5 hours after your first message
  All Models timer: Tracks the broader all-models usage cap, which resets 7 days after your first message
  Once a timer starts, it won't reset mid-window — even if you keep chatting. It only restarts after the previous window has fully expired and you send a new message.

  LIVE DUAL PROGRESS BAR
  
  A slim dual-band bar sits permanently at the very top of every claude.ai page. It is always visible and never gets in the way of your work. Two color-coded tracks update in real time as you use Claude:
  
  Green bar — your current 5-hour session usage
  Blue bar — your rolling 7-day all-models usage
  As usage climbs, each bar shifts from green or blue to amber at 80% and then to red at 90%, giving you an instant visual read of where you stand without interrupting what you are doing.
  
  Hover over the bar to expand a detailed tooltip. It shows the exact percentage used for each window, how much time remains before the next reset, and the precise date and time when each limit clears. Click the bar at any time to force an immediate refresh of your usage data from Claude's API.
  
  WARNINGS BEFORE YOU HIT A LIMIT
  
  The extension fires a browser notification when you reach 80% of a usage window and again at 90%. These early warnings give you enough time to finish the task you are in the middle of, copy important context, or plan your next session — before the limit cuts you off without warning. You stay in control of your workflow instead of being surprised at the worst possible moment.
  
  INSTANT NOTIFICATIONS WHEN LIMITS RESET
  
  The moment a usage window clears, you receive an immediate desktop notification telling you which limit has reset and that you are free to continue. This happens even if claude.ai was closed or your browser was shut down while the window expired — as soon as Chrome starts again, any missed resets fire immediately so you are never left in the dark.
  
  Every reset notification includes a one-click button that opens claude.ai directly. No hunting for the tab, no wondering whether it has been long enough. You see the alert, you click, and you are back in a conversation within seconds.
  
  7-DAY ALL-MODELS CAP
  
  Beyond the 5-hour session window, Claude Pro also enforces a rolling 7-day cumulative limit that covers your total usage across all models. The extension monitors this longer window with exactly the same precision — a live progress bar, exact percentage and reset time in the hover tooltip, 80% and 90% warnings, and a reset notification the moment the weekly cap lifts. Heavy users of Claude often hit this limit without realizing it exists, because claude.ai provides no visible indicator for it. This extension makes it just as transparent as the session limit.
  
  OPTIONAL MOBILE PUSH NOTIFICATIONS
  
  If your computer is locked or you step away from your desk, desktop notifications are easy to miss. Configure a free ntfy.sh topic in the extension settings and the extension will send a high-priority push notification directly to your phone the moment any limit resets. Setup takes under a minute — create a free ntfy.sh account, pick a topic name, and paste it into the extension settings. No additional apps or accounts are required beyond ntfy.sh.
  
  AUDIO ALERTS
  
  A subtle chime plays alongside every reset notification so you notice it even when your attention is elsewhere. If you work in a quiet environment or simply prefer silent notifications, audio can be switched off with a single click in the settings.
  
  HOW IT WORKS — ACCURATE DATA, NOT GUESSWORK
  
  The extension reads usage data directly from Claude's own API responses. It intercepts the network calls your browser is already making to claude.ai and extracts exact utilization percentages and reset timestamps from them. Where Claude's API returns official reset timestamps, those precise times are shown. When estimated timers are the only option, the extension falls back to the standard 5-hour and 7-day windows. It also listens to server-sent event streams from Claude's responses to capture usage events in real time, so the progress bar updates the moment Claude replies.
  
  COMPLETE PRIVACY — NOTHING LEAVES YOUR BROWSER
  
  Every piece of data this extension handles — timer state, usage percentages, reset timestamps — is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage. Nothing is transmitted to any external server unless you choose to enable mobile push, in which case only a short reset notification is sent to your chosen ntfy.sh topic. There are no accounts, no analytics, no behavioral tracking, and no usage data of any kind is collected or shared. The extension requires no login and works entirely offline after the initial page load.
