About

PageDate helps you discover when content was originally published or last updated, even on websites that do not clearly display dates.

The extension analyzes articles, blog posts, listings, images, product pages, forums, and other web content to identify publication dates using visible content, metadata, structured data, and historical references. Detected dates are displayed directly on the page through unobtrusive badges and a compact information panel.

Features

• Detect publish dates on articles, blog posts, news pages, listings, and other content
• Identify last updated dates when available
• Display confidence levels for detected dates
• Analyze images and page elements for date information
• View a timeline of detected dates across a page
• Export results as JSON, CSV, or timeline reports
• Optional Wayback Machine integration to check historical snapshots

 How It Works
1. Open any webpage.
2. Activate PageDate.
3. The extension scans the page and searches for publication and update dates.
4. Results are displayed directly on the page with badges, tooltips, and a summary panel.

Privacy
PageDate is designed with privacy in mind.

• Page analysis is performed locally whenever possible.
• API-based analysis is only used when the user provides an API key.
• The extension does not sell, share, or monetize browsing data.
• User preferences and API keys are stored locally using Chrome storage.

PageDate is useful for researchers, journalists, students, SEO professionals, content creators, developers, and anyone who wants to verify the freshness and age of information found online.
