I created this extension out of frustration with long articles and news stories filled with fluff, just to find the key points. Now, you can get a quick, clear summary instantly—no more wading through paragraphs.

Using the extension is simple: while on any page, open the extension popup and click "Yes, summarise". In just a moment, you'll see a concise summary capturing the main ideas. Want a deeper dive? Click "Tell me a bit more" for an expanded version of the summary.

To use this extension, you'll need your own OpenAI API key. Important: never share your API key with anyone—it’s private and personal. If you need help generating an API key, please follow guide below to get started safely.

Please note: TLDR; assumes you have permission to access and summarise the content on the site you’re visiting. Use responsibly and respect website terms of use.

Is the OpenAI API Key free?
Yes, OpenAI offers a free trial credit when you first sign up, currently $18 worth of usage that you can spend within 3 months. This lets new users experiment with the API without cost initially. (At the time of this writing)

Creating an OpenAI API Key:
Create an OpenAI Account
Go to https://platform.openai.com/signup and sign up for a free account if you don’t already have one.

Verify Your Email
Confirm your email address via the verification link sent to you.

Log In to the OpenAI Platform
Visit https://platform.openai.com/login and log in.

Generate an API Key

Go to the API Keys section in your dashboard (usually under the user menu or sidebar).

Click Create new secret key.

Copy the key shown—this is your API key. Keep it safe and private!

Use Your API Key
Paste the key into the extension when prompted. Your key allows the extension to call OpenAI’s API on your behalf.
