    description
Passkey Vault is a local-first WebAuthn passkey tool for developers, testers, and advanced users who want direct control over passkey creation, storage, backup, sync, and browser fallback behavior.

The extension intercepts WebAuthn registration and sign-in requests, stores passkeys in local browser extension storage, and lets you inspect, search, export, import, and sync credentials without depending on a third-party cloud account.

    Key features:

    - Local vault for WebAuthn create and get flows
    - Browser and OS passkey fallback when no matching vault entry exists
    - Disabled, all-sites, and allowlist interception modes
    - Searchable popup with light and dark themes
    - Backup and import for moving passkeys between environments
    - Optional cross-device sync using an encrypted Nostr-based sync chain
    - Developer logging, storage inspection, sync logs, and WebAuthn event tools

Important: Passkey Vault is a research and developer tool. Private key material is stored in local browser extension storage. Treat extension data and exported backups as sensitive credential material.
Passkey Vault keeps your passkeys and two-factor codes in one place, on your device, and syncs them across your computers with no cloud account. Sign in without passwords, get your 2FA codes right where your passkeys already live, and stay in control of every credential.

Sync is end-to-end encrypted, so your keys move between your devices without anyone else seeing them, not even us. Nothing leaves your device unless you choose to back it up or sync it.

    Highlights:
    - One vault for both passkeys and 2FA codes, with filters to show just what you need
    - A built-in authenticator: time-based 2FA codes with a live countdown and one-tap copy
    - Add a code by pasting its link, a QR screenshot, or a QR image; it is read on your device, with no camera needed
    - End-to-end encrypted sync across your devices, with no account to create
    - An optional PIN that locks the vault and encrypts it on disk
    - Encrypted backups you export and restore yourself
    - Works alongside your browser: sites you have not saved still get the normal passkey prompt

When a site offers a passkey, Passkey Vault can create it, store it, and sign you back in later, all on your device.

Passkey Vault is built for people who want their passkeys and 2FA codes to stay private and portable. Because everything lives on your device, keep an offline backup: there is no recovery if you lose every device and every backup.
