ContaLab US GAAP is a free, hands-on accounting workspace built for students. Record journal entries, post them to the general ledger, and watch your Trial Balance, Balance Sheet, and Income Statement build themselves — all following US GAAP. Everything runs locally in your browser: no account, no sign-up, no servers.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

• Journal — double-entry journal entries with real-time debit/credit balancing, search, and PDF export.
• General Ledger — every account as a running-balance statement or a classic T-account, exportable to PDF.
• Chart of Accounts — a ready-to-use US GAAP teaching chart with 4-digit codes (Assets, Liabilities, Equity, Revenue, Cost of Sales, Expenses). Add your own sub-accounts.
• Financial Statements — Trial Balance, Balance Sheet, and Income Statement, generated automatically and exportable to PDF and CSV.
• Review — automatic checks that catch the classic classroom mistakes: out-of-balance journal, broken accounting equation, negative cash, unnatural balances, reversed debit/credit signs, missing depreciation, and missing cost of goods sold. Each issue links straight to the account to fix.
• Closing assistant — generates the real closing entries: revenues and expenses to Income Summary, then to Retained Earnings, and Dividends to Retained Earnings.
• Submissions — export and import your work as a JSON file with a content fingerprint, so instructors can grade it and spot direct copies.
