Keyboard Click Sounds makes everyday typing more enjoyable by playing short, satisfying click sounds whenever you press keys on your keyboard.

Whether you miss the tactile feedback of a mechanical keyboard or simply want a more fun typing experience, this extension lets you customize how every keystroke sounds - without changing how your keyboard works.

KEY FEATURES

• Built-in sound presets - Choose from 14 ready-made keyboard sounds (mechanical, laptop, minimal, and more)
• Custom presets - Upload your own audio files (MP3, WAV, up to 5 MB) and fine-tune volume, offset, and duration
• Per-preset volume control - Adjust how loud typing sounds should be
• Enable / disable toggle - Turn sounds on or off instantly from the popup
• Auto schedule - Automatically enable sounds only during hours you choose (e.g. 9:00–17:00)
• Website blacklist - Disable sounds on specific websites (e.g. youtube.com)
• Excluded keys - Skip modifier keys (Shift, Ctrl, Alt, etc.) or add your own
• Typing statistics - Track total keystrokes, estimated typing speed (WPM), and most-used sounds

HOW IT WORKS

1. Install the extension and click the toolbar icon to open the popup.
2. Select a built-in preset or create a custom one in Options.
3. Adjust volume and enable the extension.
4. Start typing on any website - short click sounds play on each key press.

The extension listens for keydown events on web pages you visit. It does not read, record, or transmit the text you type. Sounds are played locally in your browser using Chrome's offscreen audio API.

PERMISSIONS EXPLAINED

We request only the permissions needed for core functionality:

• storage - Save your settings, presets, schedule, blacklist, excluded keys, and local statistics on your device
• activeTab - Access the current tab context when you interact with the extension
• offscreen - Play audio reliably in the background via an offscreen document (required by Chrome Manifest V3)
• tabs - Open a welcome page after install and an info page after update (tabsfx.app)
• Host permission (<all_urls>) - Inject a lightweight content script on pages you visit so the extension can detect key presses and play sounds. The script only listens for keydown events and sends the key name and page hostname to the extension's own background script. It does not access page content, passwords, or form data.

DATA & PRIVACY
