About
AudioLab detects every audio and video playing across your browser and gives you control over all of it from one place — without leaving the page you're on.
It hooks into the Web Audio pipeline to compute real-time audio metrics and apply automatic loudness normalization.
FEATURES
• Cross-Tab Media Detection — Automatically finds all unmuted audio and video across every open tab. Shows the media name, source type, and playback state.
• Real-Time Audio Metrics — Computes windowed RMS, peak amplitude, and dBFS in an AudioWorklet on the audio render thread. Displayed live on each media card.
• Audio Classification — Labels each playing element in real time: Silent, Quiet, Normal, or Loud. Uses smoothed dBFS to prevent jitter.
• Loudness Normalization — Automatic gain adjustment to bring all audio to a target loudness. Uses attack/release smoothing, a max gain cap, and clipping protection. Adjustable
target via slider. Works across all tabs.
• Audio Focus Stack — Start playing audio in a new tab and the previous tab's audio automatically pauses. When the new audio stops, the previous one resumes. Disabled by default.
• Remote Play/Pause — Control any tab's audio directly from the overlay or popup without switching tabs.
• Click-to-Jump — Click any media card to instantly switch to that tab.
• Persistent Overlay — A draggable, collapsible overlay showing all media with live dB levels and controls. Disabled by default.
• Keyboard Shortcuts — Alt+Shift+P to play/pause, Alt+Shift+J to jump to the playing tab. Customizable at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
• Persistent Settings — All preferences are saved and restored automatically when the browser restarts.
