About

The TAGBASE Extension helps buyers and sellers build trust on second-hand marketplaces by making physical access to a product verifiable.

When buying from peer-to-peer platforms, one of the biggest risks is that a seller may list an item they do not actually have, or an item they are not allowed to sell. The TAGBASE Extension addresses this problem by showing whether a seller has proven real, physical access to the product directly on the listing page.

To verify physical access, the product must be equipped with a TAGBASE NFC tag. Each TAGBASE NFC tag is uniquely linked to a specific physical item. During verification, the seller scans the TAGBASE NFC tag using their phone while having the item with them. This confirms that the seller is physically in possession of the product at that moment. The verification is time-stamped and linked to the specific listing.

If the product supports ownership verification, the seller can also prove that they are authorized to sell the item. This allows buyers to see whether the seller both has the product in hand and is the legitimate owner. Listings may show physical access verification, ownership verification, both, or no verification.

Buyers using the TAGBASE Extension can immediately see the verification status when visiting a supported listing. They can also open a public verification link or scan a QR code to review the proof details. Buyers do not need to create an account to use the extension.

Sellers can use the TAGBASE Extension to increase trust in their listings. After opening their listing in Chrome, they can start a verification, scan the product’s TAGBASE NFC tag, and share the generated verification link or QR code in the listing or in messages to potential buyers.

The TAGBASE Extension helps reduce scams, unauthorized reselling, and listings for items that sellers do not physically possess. It adds a trust layer to existing marketplaces without changing how they work.

Physical access verification requires a TAGBASE NFC tag attached to the product. Verifications are linked to a specific listing page and may expire over time. TAGBASE does not process payments and does not act as an escrow or marketplace.

The TAGBASE Extension currently supports platforms such as eBay, Vinted, and Willhaben, with additional marketplaces planned.

Install the TAGBASE Extension to verify real access to real products before buying or selling.
