About

Brimley is a side-panel calculator that shows the real take-home from an Etsy
sale after every fee — listing, transaction, payment processing, Offsite Ads,
regulatory operating fee, and country VAT on fees where applicable. Click the
toolbar icon to open it beside any tab.

Built for the moment between "Etsy Stats says I made $30" and "my bank shows
$17.56 actually arrived" — that gap usually comes from six fees most sellers
haven't seen written down anywhere.

Country-specific payment processing rates and DST/VAT handling:

United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Italy,
Spain, Netherlands, Ireland, Poland, Austria, Belgium, Sweden, Norway,
Denmark, Switzerland, New Zealand, Japan, Mexico, Brazil, Türkiye, India,
Vietnam.

UK sellers get the 20% VAT-on-fees layer modelled with a reverse charge toggle
for VAT-registered sellers — most calculators miss this. It's the single
most-overlooked cost for sub-£90K UK shops.

• Transaction fee 6.5%
• Payment processing per country (e.g. 4% + £0.20 for UK, 3% + $0.25 for US)
• Offsite Ads 12% (≥$10K/yr) or 15% (<$10K/yr) with $100 per-order cap
• Regulatory operating fee for sellers in UK / France / Italy / Spain /
  Türkiye / Canada / India / Vietnam (DST pass-through)
• VAT on fees for sellers in countries with a VAT regime (UK by default;
  EU set to follow in future updates)

Each row shows the formula it's derived from ("6.5% of $30.00",
"4% + £0.20 on $30.00", "0.32% of $30.00 — United Kingdom DST") so you can
verify the math yourself.

Zero data collection. The calculator runs entirely in the browser; nothing is
sent to any server. State (your last country and inputs) is stored locally
via chrome.storage.local. No analytics, no tracking, no external network
calls of any kind. Fonts are bundled inside the extension — no CDN load.

The extension does NOT access Etsy pages, does NOT read or modify any website
content, and does NOT request host permissions of any kind. Manual icon click
only — no proactive tab inspection. The two permissions requested are:

— sidePanel: required to render the side-panel UI itself
— storage: required to remember your last inputs between sessions
