  🔐 PRIVACY & SIGN-IN

  Sign in with your Google account — Screenshot Annotate uses Google
  OAuth exclusively. You never enter a password into the extension.
  We do NOT collect, store, or transmit user passwords. Your Google
  password is entered only on Google's own sign-in page and is never
  visible to Screenshot Annotate.

  Screenshots are processed entirely on your device using HTML5 Canvas.
  No image data is sent to our servers unless you explicitly click
  Upload, Share, or use the GIF Export feature.

  Screenshot Annotate's use of information received from Google APIs
  adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the
  Limited Use requirements.

  ☁️ CLOUD STORAGE OPTIONS

  You choose where uploads go:

  • Google Drive (free, opt-in) — files go directly browser → your
    own Drive folder. We use the drive.file scope so the extension
    can ONLY see files it created in your Drive — never any of your
    other Drive content.

  • Cloudinary (Premium) — managed CDN with viral share links.

  • ImgBB (advanced) — bring your own free ImgBB API key.

  You can switch providers anytime from the popup. Drive can be
  disconnected with one click.

  🔧 PERMISSIONS — WHY WE NEED THEM

  • activeTab — capture the currently active tab when you click
    the extension or use a shortcut.
  • scripting — inject the area-selection overlay so you can
    drag-select a region. The overlay does not read page content.
  • storage / unlimitedStorage — save your preferences (pinned
    colors, last-used tool) and temporary screenshot data locally
    via chrome.storage.local. No data syncs to our servers without
    your explicit action.
  • identity — Google OAuth sign-in (openid, email, profile) and
    the optional Connect Drive feature (drive.file scope, only when
    you click Connect Drive).
  • host_permissions <all_urls> — required to inject the area-
    selection overlay on any page you choose to screenshot. We do
    NOT read or transmit the content of pages you visit.
  • Microphone (only when you record a Voice Note) — recorded
    locally; uploaded only when you save the note.
