About

Stop reading reviews one by one. Start seeing the patterns.

You found a competitor on Google Maps with 800 reviews. You want to know what customers love, what they complain about, and what keywords keep showing up. So you start scrolling. And scrolling. Twenty minutes later, you have a vague sense that "service" comes up a lot, but nothing concrete. Nothing you can act on.

That is the problem. Reviews contain real customer language, real pain points, real praise. But extracting those signals manually is slow, inconsistent, and impossible to scale across multiple competitors.

ReviewScope fixes this in seconds.

WHY REVIEW ANALYSIS IS SO HARD

Google Maps reviews are unstructured text. There is no built-in way to:

- See which words appear most in 5-star reviews vs 1-star reviews
- Know if a business actually replies to customers
- Identify the signature phrases customers use (the ones you should put in your GBP description)
- Compare sentiment across dozens of competitors

Most people either skip this entirely or spend hours in spreadsheets copy-pasting review text. Neither approach scales.

ReviewScope runs directly inside Google Maps and does the analysis for you, locally, in your browser.

WHAT THIS EXTENSION DOES

ReviewScope is a review analysis tool that injects directly into Google Maps business pages. No new tabs, no dashboards, no API keys. Open a business page, and the analysis appears right there.

No spreadsheets. No copy-pasting. No AI credits to burn.

Here is what you get:

Praised Keywords - The words that appear most in 4-5 star reviews, separated from everything else. These are the terms customers associate with a positive experience at this business.

Criticized Keywords - The words from 1-2 star reviews only. Instantly see what drives negative feedback without reading every bad review.

Sentiment Breakdown - Percentage split of positive, neutral, and negative reviews shown as a visual bar. One glance tells you the overall health of a business reputation.

Signature Phrases - Two-word combinations that customers use repeatedly. These are not generic ("very good") - the extension filters those out. What remains are meaningful phrases like "black sesame latte" or "friendly staff" that define the business.

GBP Optimization Tips - Actionable suggestions generated from the analysis. If reply rate is low, it tells you. If a signature phrase should be in your GBP services list, it tells you. If negative reviews cluster around a specific topic, it tells you.

Reply Rate - The percentage of reviews that received an owner response. A key local ranking signal that most businesses ignore.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Open any Google Maps business page
2. ReviewScope instantly analyzes the visible reviews (usually 3-5 on the Overview tab)
3. Click "Load more reviews for deeper analysis" to scroll and load all available reviews
4. The widget updates with complete keyword, sentiment, and phrase data
5. Switch to another business - the widget resets and re-analyzes automatically

That is it. No setup, no configuration required. Results appear in under 2 seconds for the initial analysis.

WHY IT RUNS INSIDE THE PAGE

Most review tools require you to leave Google Maps, paste a URL into some dashboard, wait for an API to process, and then read results in a separate interface.

ReviewScope injects directly into the Maps panel because that is where you are already looking. The analysis sits right next to the reviews themselves. No context switching. No extra tabs.

The widget uses iOS-inspired design language - clean cards, pill-shaped keyword tags color-coded by sentiment, and a compact layout that does not push the actual reviews out of view.

CONFIGURABLE SCROLL BEHAVIOR

When you click "Load more reviews," the extension scrolls the review panel to load additional reviews from Google Maps. To avoid triggering rate limits on your account:

- You control the scroll interval (minimum and maximum delay between scrolls)
- Each scroll uses a random delay within your configured range, mimicking human behavior
- Default is 0.8s to 2.0s - safe for normal use
- You can increase the range if you want to be more conservative

Settings are accessible from the extension popup (click the icon in your toolbar).

Auto-analyze can be toggled off if you prefer to trigger analysis manually.

REAL SCENARIOS WHERE THIS HELPS

Competitor keyword research:
You manage SEO for a dental clinic. You open the top 5 competitors on Google Maps and check what patients praise most. You discover "same day appointment" appears in 12 of 15 five-star reviews for the market leader. Your client does not mention this anywhere in their GBP listing. Now you know what to add.

Identifying service gaps:
A restaurant client has a 4.2 rating and wants to improve. You run ReviewScope and see "wait time" and "slow" dominate the 1-2 star keywords. The GBP Tips section suggests addressing this in posts. Concrete, actionable, found in 10 seconds.

GBP description optimization:
You are writing a GBP description for a coffee shop. ReviewScope shows "oat milk latte," "cozy space," and "fast wifi" as the top signature phrases from customer reviews. These are the exact words real customers use - put them in the description.

Reply rate benchmarking:
You audit 10 competitors and notice the top 3 all have reply rates above 60%. Your client is at 8%. Now you have data to justify a review response strategy.

Multi-location comparison:
A franchise owner wants to know why one location gets 4.8 stars and another gets 4.1. Run ReviewScope on both. The praised keywords differ - one gets "clean" and "organized," the other does not. The criticized keywords for the lower-rated location cluster around "parking" and "rude."

Content ideation:
You need blog topics for a local business. The signature phrases from their reviews ("hidden gem," "date night spot," "live music friday") are ready-made content angles that you know resonate with real customers.

WHAT THIS EXTENSION DOES NOT DO

- It does not send any data to any server. Zero network requests from the extension.
- It does not access your Google account or any login credentials.
- It does not track your browsing, store your history, or fingerprint your browser.

The only permissions it uses:

- activeTab - To read the Google Maps page content (reviews, business info) on the tab you are currently viewing
- storage - To save your scroll interval settings locally in Chrome sync storage

That is it. No background processes. No remote servers. Pure client-side JavaScript running in your browser.

FREE AND UNLIMITED

There is no paid tier. There is no account. There is no daily limit.

Every feature works on every Google Maps business page, every time. The extension is lightweight (under 25KB) and adds no measurable load to your browser.

THE ANALYSIS LOGIC

Keyword extraction: Reviews are tokenized, stop words removed, and word frequency counted per review (not per occurrence, so one review mentioning "coffee" 5 times counts as 1). Keywords are split by rating - 4-5 stars go to Praised, 1-2 stars go to Criticized.

Phrase detection: Bigrams (two-word combinations) are extracted and filtered against a list of generic filler phrases ("really good," "came here," "would recommend"). Only noun-containing phrases that appear in 2 or more reviews are shown.

Sentiment: Based on star rating when available (4-5 = positive, 1-2 = negative, 3 = neutral). Falls back to keyword-based sentiment scoring when ratings are not detected.

No AI. No API. No black box. The logic is deterministic and runs entirely in your browser.
