Deep Tab Search lets you search inside the actual content of all your open browser tabs — not just titles and URLs. Find that paragraph, heading, or keyword you remember seeing somewhere. FEATURES - Full-text content search across all open tabs - BM25 ranking (same algorithm used by search engines) - Fuzzy matching for typo tolerance (Elasticsearch-style AUTO fuzziness) - Synonym expansion (ai → artificial intelligence, ml, llm, and more) - Exact-phrase search with "quotes" - Highlighted snippets showing match context - Tab group indicators (colored dot + group name) - Relevance scoring (percentage shown per result) - Auto-scaling match threshold, proximity boost, and multi-fragment snippets for matches spread across a page - Active-tab indicator — the subtle left-edge accent bar showing your current tab in results - Smart as-you-type matching — partial words like "thro" find "through" pattern. - Keyboard navigation (Arrow keys + Enter to switch tabs) - Background indexing — tabs are indexed automatically as they load - Configurable settings: indexing, search boosts, custom synonyms, excluded domains - Light and dark theme (or follow your OS) - Incognito support (enable per Chrome's standard toggle) HOW IT WORKS The extension reads the visible text on each open tab (up to 60KB per page) and caches it locally in your browser. HOW IT WORKS
The extension reads the visible text on each open tab (up to 60KB per page) and caches it locally in your browser. When you search, it matches your query against this cached content using word matching, synonym expansion, fuzzy matching, BM25 term-frequency ranking, and a multilingual neural embedding model (Xenova/multilingual-e5-small) that runs entirely in your browser to capture meaning beyond exact words.
KEYBOARD SHORTCUT
Press Alt+S (Option+S on Mac) to instantly open the search popup. Arrow keys to navigate, Enter to switch to a tab.
PRIVACY
Everything stays local. Page content is extracted and cached in your browser's IndexedDB. No data is sent to any server. The extension only reads pages you already have open. The AI model (~118 MB) is downloaded once from Hugging Face and cached locally; after that, all embedding and search runs offline. Nothing is sent to any server.Technical
