About

Student Snippets is a lightweight note tool for students who read a lot online. Select text on any page, press Alt+Shift+S, and save it into organized “classes” with your own mini notes. When you’re ready to review, you can export everything as clean Markdown or plain text.

What you can do:
• Save selected text from any website with a keyboard shortcut (Alt+Shift+S).
• Group snippets into “classes” such as Physics, History, or a specific exam.
• Rename classes and delete classes you no longer need.
• Add a short mini note to each snippet for your own thoughts or exam tips.
• Search across snippets in the current class.
• Collapse and expand pages (sessions) to keep long reading histories tidy.

Export options:
• Scope: choose “This class” to export all snippets in the current class, “Filtered notes” to export only snippets that match your current search, or “All classes” to export snippets across all classes, grouped by page and labeled with class names.
• Format: choose “For reading” (Markdown) for a nicely formatted export with titles, host, URL, timestamps, and snippet notes, or “Plain text” for a simple text export that is easy to paste into other tools.

Exports are grouped by page (session) and include the page title, host (website domain), URL, last saved time, class name, and each snippet with its saved time, text, and your mini note.

Student Snippets is useful for collecting quotes and explanations from Wikipedia, online textbooks, or articles, building study notes for each class or exam, and reviewing everything later in your favorite Markdown editor or note app.

How to use:
Install the extension, open any website, select text, and press Alt+Shift+S. Then open the extension popup from the toolbar to create or rename classes, browse and search your snippets, add or edit mini notes, and export as Markdown or plain text.

Privacy:
Snippets, classes, and notes are stored locally using Chrome storage. The extension does not send your data to any external server.
