About

Simple Sound Control gives you a straightforward way to turn tab audio up or down—including levels above 100% when you need more headroom—without touching each site’s own player UI.

What it does

+ Adjust volume on a 0–400% scale (100% is normal; 0% is mute).
Works on regular websites over HTTP and HTTPS by routing page <audio> and <video> elements through a gain stage.
+ Quick actions for common levels (Mute, 20%, 50%, 100%) with optional highlighting of your last preset.
+ Optional persistence: save a level for this tab and/or for this site (origin) so the same boost comes back when you return.
+ Global default when nothing is saved is 100%.
+ Toolbar icon: when the effective level for the current tab is not 100%, a small accent-colored dot appears on the extension icon (and the tooltip shows the percentage).
+ Appearance: light/dark-friendly layout, accent color choices in Settings, and a dedicated Saved volume states screen (tabs vs. URLs) where you can remove entries you no longer want.

Important limitations (read before installing)
Only affects standard HTML media on http(s) pages. It does not change Chrome’s own UI sounds, chrome:// pages, the Chrome Web Store, PDFs, or sites that play audio only through custom engines with no <audio> / <video> tag.
Boosting above 100% can cause distortion or clipping on some content—that’s normal for a simple gain boost.
Cross-origin media without proper setup may not route in some cases.

Privacy
Ad-free. Volume preferences and saved levels are kept locally in your browser (extension storage). There are no accounts, no analytics, and no remote servers for this extension’s core behavior.
