rivacy Blur turns any web page into a safe surface for recording or screenshotting.

WHAT IT'S FOR
When you record a tutorial, take a screenshot for a bug ticket, or share your screen in a video call, emails, names, IDs, balances and tokenized URLs will inevitably show up. Instead of reaching for Photoshop afterwards, hide them beforehand with a single click.

HOW IT WORKS
• Click any element → it's blurred.
• Shift + click → applies the same blur to all "similar" elements (great for tables and lists). An orange outline previews how many will be affected before you confirm.
• Right click on a blurred element → clears it.
• Ctrl/Cmd + Z → undo last action (20-step stack).
• Esc → exit selection mode.

THREE HIDING MODES
• Blur (Gaussian) — soft, good visual balance.
• Pixelate — classic censor-bar look.
• Blackout (solid black bar) — non-reversible; the safest mode for tokens, IDs and card numbers.

KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS
• Alt+Shift+B — toggle selection mode.
• Alt+Shift+P — PANIC BLUR: instantly covers the whole page with a blurred overlay. Perfect when someone walks into frame during a recording.

PERSISTENCE
Rules are saved per URL (origin + path). When you return, elements are blurred automatically. A MutationObserver keeps things working on single-page apps.

DRAGGABLE TOOLBAR
The red indicator can be dragged anywhere and collapsed to a 32-pixel dot if it covers something. Position is remembered across sessions.

EXPORT / IMPORT
Download your rules as JSON to share with your team or back them up. On import you can choose to merge or replace.

PRIVACY
• Everything is local. Rules live in chrome.storage.local.
• No servers, no analytics, no telemetry, no cookies, no network calls.
• The requested permissions (activeTab, storage, <all_urls>) exist only so that blur can be applied on the page you chose.

LANGUAGES
UI available in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French (auto-detected from your browser language).

LIMITATIONS
Does not work on chrome://, chrome-extension://, the Chrome Web Store itself, or internal PDFs (browser restriction).
