About

YouTube's homepage is a slot machine. You open it, scroll, and an hour later you've watched things you didn't choose to watch. The algorithm decides what's in front of you — and you have almost no tools to push back.
Smart Recommendations for YouTube puts a layer between you and that feed.
It quietly logs every video YouTube recommends to you on the homepage. Then it gives you a private dashboard where you sort them on your own terms.

WHAT YOU GET
📥 INBOX
Every new recommendation lands here, untagged. This is your triage queue — process it, ignore it, or come back to it later.
🏷️ TAGGED
Your own labels: "learn", "music", "later", "philosophy" — whatever fits how you think. Tags autocomplete from previous use. No predefined categories, no AI guessing.
❤️ FAVORITES
The videos worth coming back to. One click on the heart on any card.
📦 ARCHIVED
"Not interested" pile. Out of sight, but not deleted — you can restore any video later.
📺 CHANNELS
Every channel that has ever been recommended to you, sortable by frequency. One click to block any channel — its videos disappear from your dashboard. (YouTube doesn't get notified; this is your private bookkeeping.)

WHY THIS IS DIFFERENT
→ DOESN'T MODIFY YOUTUBE. Your native homepage stays exactly as YouTube renders it. The extension is read-only on the YouTube side — it never injects, hides, or replaces anything on youtube.com.
→ LOCAL DATA. Everything lives in your browser's storage. No accounts. No servers. No telemetry. No analytics. No third parties. Export your full database as JSON anytime. Import it later or move it to another browser.
→ MINIMUM PERMISSIONS. Only "storage" (to save your tags and settings) and access to youtube.com (to read the homepage). Nothing else.
→ WATCH PROGRESS AWARE. Tracks how much you've watched of each video. Hide videos you've already finished with a single toggle. See the progress bar on every card.
→ CHANNEL-LEVEL CONTROL. Block channels that keep being pushed into your feed. Manage them in one place.

WHO IT'S FOR
• People who use YouTube as a tool, not a passive consumption platform.
• Anyone tired of the same channels being pushed despite "not interested" doing nothing.
• Researchers, learners, and curious people who want to organize what they discover.
• Anyone who's annoyed by the slot-machine vibe of the homepage.

PRIVACY
Read the full privacy policy at the link in this listing. Short version:
• Nothing is sent anywhere.
• Nothing is shared with anyone.
• Nothing is sold.
• Your data lives only on your device, in chrome.storage.local.
• Uninstall the extension and Chrome wipes everything automatically.

HOW TO USE
Install the extension.
Open YouTube and scroll the homepage as you normally would.
Click the extension icon and open the dashboard.
Tag, favorite, archive, or block. Build your real feed.
That's it. The extension stays out of your way until you want it.
