About
SERP Feature Annotator scans any Google search results page and instantly highlights every SERP feature with a distinct color overlay — so you can see at a glance how much real estate goes to ads, how far down organic results are pushed, and which special features Google is serving for a given query. HOW IT WORKS Open any Google search results page. The extension automatically runs a content script that scans the DOM and identifies each SERP element by type. Every detected element gets a semi-transparent colored overlay with a small label badge in the corner indicating its type. A red dashed "fold line" marks the bottom of the initial viewport, showing you exactly what users see before scrolling. Click the extension icon to open the statistics panel. It shows three key numbers at the top: total SERP features detected, number of organic results, and how many organic results appear above the fold. Below that, a full breakdown lists every feature type with its count and percentage share. At the bottom, progress bars visualize the visible area occupied by organic results and ads — both as a percentage of the first viewport (above the fold) and the full page. DETECTED SERP FEATURES The extension identifies and color-codes 9 types of SERP elements: Search ads (red) — Paid text ads at the top and bottom of the page Shopping ads (coral) — Sponsored product listings with images and prices Featured snippets (purple) — Answer boxes pulled from a page and displayed above organic results People Also Ask (blue) — Expandable question-and-answer sections Video carousel (pink) — Video result blocks, typically from YouTube Local pack (amber) — Map and business listing results for location-based queries Knowledge panel (teal) — Information panels typically shown in the right sidebar Image pack (green) — Inline image result grids Organic results (gray) — Standard blue-link results, each numbered sequentially Detection uses multiple strategies per feature type — data attributes, structural DOM patterns, and text-based heuristics — to maintain accuracy even when Google updates its page structure.
