Changelog
- May 7, 2026description
MacShield is a dual-purpose privacy extension for Mac users who refuse to let anyone snoop on their screen or access their websites. 🔒 FEATURE 1 — PRIVACY BLUR When you're working ona coffee shop, office, or anywhere someone could glance at your screen, MacShield blurs every single message and conversation. Nobody can read what's on your screen — not your chats, not Claude's responses, nothing. But you're still in full control: - Select any text → it instantly unblurs and becomes readable - Hover over a message → it softly reveals for a quick peek - Press Alt + B anywhere to toggle blur on/off in one keystroke - Adjust blur intensity from light (2px) to heavy (20px) with a slider - Your input box and navigation are never blurred — you can always type freely Zero performance impact. Loads and runs exactly as normal. 🔐 FEATURE 2 — WEB LOCK (any website) Lock any website behind a password. Once locked, anyone who tries to visit that site — on your browser, on your Mac — hits a password screen instead. No password, no access. Simple. Perfect for: - Locking social media so you (or others) can't mindlessly browse - Protecting sensitive work sites from family or flatmates - Blocking distracting websites during focus hours - Keeping kids away from sites they shouldn't visit How it works: 1. Visit any website you want to lock 2. Click the MacShield icon → go to Web Lock tab 3. Click "Lock This Site" and set a password 4. Done — that site is now password-protected on your browser To unlock: visit the locked site, enter your password, and choose to unlock temporarily (this session only) or permanently. ⚡ WHY MACSHIELD? - 100% open source — every line of code is public on GitHub - Zero data collection — your passwords are hashed and stored locally only, never sent anywhere - No account needed — install and use immediately - Lightweight — under 200KB, no slowdowns - Built by a Mac user, for Mac users Your privacy. Your passwords. Your browser.
