About
TagGovernor is a browser side panel tool for verifying that your marketing and analytics tags are firing correctly — before bad data reaches your reporting. As you browse, the extension captures every network request and checks it against your vendor rules in real time. Each hit is marked Pass, Fail, Warn, or Excluded so you can see at a glance whether a tag is healthy, broken, or simply not expected on this page. What it's good for: Confirming that analytics events contain the right parameters and values Catching tags that fire when they shouldn't — or don't fire when they should Validating tag behavior after a site change or migration without waiting for reports to populate Giving QA and marketing teams a shared, human-readable view of what's happening under the hood What sets it apart: URL Rewriting — Redirect any request to a different endpoint on the fly, without touching your site's code or tag manager. Test against staging, swap out vendor endpoints, or simulate edge cases that are otherwise difficult to reproduce in a live environment. No deployment required. Cookie inspection — Rules can read from cookies alongside query parameters, request body, and response headers, so you can validate consent signals, session identifiers, or any other cookie-based data that your tags depend on. It ships with support for dozens of common vendors out of the box (Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, Adobe Analytics, and more), and you can define custom rules for any proprietary endpoint. You can also record and replay user flows for repeatable regression testing. No data leaves your browser. Everything runs locally inside the extension.
