  1. Click the extension icon and paste your own Gemini API key
     (free key from https://aistudio.google.com/apikey).
  2. Pick a target language and a Gemini model (e.g. gemini-2.5-flash).
  3. Play any YouTube or Vimeo video — translated subtitles appear automatically.
  
  ■ Models you control
  • Choose any Gemini model your account has access to: 2.5-pro, 2.5-flash, 2.0-flash, 1.5-pro, 1.5-flash, etc.
  • Use the "Refresh model list" button to fetch the latest models directly from the Gemini API.
  • Customize the translation system prompt from the options page.
  
  ■ Privacy & security — bring your own key
  • Your Gemini API key is stored only in chrome.storage.local on your machine.
  • It is never synced across devices, and only the last 4 characters are ever shown back on screen.
  • Subtitle text is sent only to Google's generativelanguage.googleapis.com over HTTPS.
  • No watch-history collection. No analytics. No ad tracking. No third-party servers.
  • Translation calls go directly from your browser to Google — they are billed to your own Gemini account.
