GeoMail Tracker is a free Gmail extension that tracks email opens with geolocation, device info, and real-time desktop notifications — without adding any branded signature to your messages, and with Pro at just $0.99/month.

Unlike Mailtrack, Mailtag, and Geotrack, GeoMail Tracker adds zero "sent with..." footer, zero watermark, and zero branding to your emails — on both Free and Pro plans. Tracking is done via an invisible 1×1 pixel embedded in the email body, identical to what Mailtrack does on its paid plan, completely hidden from your recipient.

1. Install GeoMail Tracker — one-click from the Chrome Web Store
2. Sign in with Google (one-click OAuth, minimum scopes only — openid + email + profile)
3. Compose your email in Gmail — the "Track" toggle appears next to the Send button (on by default)
4. Send and wait — get a desktop notification within 60 seconds of every open, with city, country, and device

• Recipient IP addresses are SHA-256 hashed before storage — never exposed in the UI
• We do not read or modify your email content beyond inserting the tracking pixel

✦ TECHNICAL NOTES ✦

• Built on Cloudflare's globally distributed edge platform — sub-100ms response from anywhere in the world
• City-level geolocation accuracy ~85% (drops with VPN, mobile data NAT, Apple Mail Privacy Protection)
• Country-level accuracy ~99%
• Tracking pixel is 1×1, invisible, served with no-cache headers — recipient sees nothing
• Multi-opener detection groups events by IP-hash + OS for accurate per-recipient counts

✦ LIMITATIONS (HONEST DISCLOSURE) ✦

• Gmail-to-Gmail sends route through Google Image Proxy — for those opens we can confirm "delivered + previewed" but the displayed location is a Google datacenter, not the recipient's true location. The popup labels these "Gmail proxy" so you can tell them apart from real opens.
• Apple Mail Privacy Protection (iOS 15+ Mail) pre-fetches all images, which can inflate open counts for Mail-app recipients. We filter known proxy patterns to minimize this.
• If multiple recipients all use the same email provider in the same office network, our (IP-hash, OS) grouping may merge them into one opener row. For per-recipient tracking accuracy in that case, see our V2 Mail Merge feature on the roadmap.
