Knot Recorder turns every Google Meet call into a searchable, summarised entry inside your Knot CRM workspace.

WHAT IT DOES
• You click "Record with Knot" inside any Google Meet tab.
• The extension captures the meeting tab audio (audio only — no video, no screen).
• When the call ends, the recording is uploaded directly to your own Knot workspace via HTTPS.
• Knot transcribes the call (speaker-diarised) and produces an AI summary that lives next to the record of the people / company / deal you choose.

REQUIREMENTS
• A Knot workspace (sign up at https://knotcrm.com — free trial available).
• You must have permission from the meeting participants to record. The extension always shows a non-dismissable "🔴 Recording" banner inside the Meet UI; this is the legal minimum but you remain responsible for compliance with the laws of your jurisdiction (e.g. EU GDPR Art. 6/9, US two-party consent states).

WHAT IT DOES NOT DO
• It does NOT auto-record. Recording starts only on your explicit click.
• It does NOT capture video or screen — audio only.
• It does NOT activate on any site other than meet.google.com.
• It does NOT send data to anyone except your own configured Knot workspace.
• It does NOT collect telemetry, analytics, or browsing history.

HOW DATA IS HANDLED
• Audio is streamed via direct HTTPS upload to the Knot API URL you configure in the popup. No third-party intermediary controlled by us.
• Transcription is performed by Deepgram (primary) or OpenAI Whisper (fallback), under standard sub-processor agreements — see https://knotcrm.com/legal/sub-processors.
• Recordings are deleted from Knot's object storage after 90 days. Transcripts persist until you delete the call.
• Your workspace token is stored only in chrome.storage.local on your device — never synced.
• Failed uploads are retried with exponential backoff using IndexedDB; deleted on success.
