Mastering the Block List

The Block List is the core of the extension.

Adding a Website

Enter a domain (e.g., facebook.com) and click Add Site. The site appears instantly in your blocked grid.

Wildcards and Subdomains

To block all subdomains:

Add *.reddit.com, or

Enable Block Subdomains Automatically.

This ensures old.reddit.com, new.reddit.com, and other subdomains are blocked automatically.

Regex (Advanced)

For precise control, use regular expressions:

/\/celebrity-name\//

This blocks any URL containing /celebrity-name/ without blocking the entire site.

Reverse Mode (Allowlist)

Turn on Reverse Mode to flip the logic:

Everything is blocked by default.

Only listed sites are allowed.

This is ideal for focused study sessions, strict work environments, or creating a curated browsing experience for children.

Intelligent Blocking with Keywords

Instead of blocking entire websites, you can block specific URL patterns.

For example, adding gambling will block any page containing that word in its URL.

Use cases include:

Avoiding /sports/ or /entertainment/ sections on news sites.

Blocking /feed/ on social platforms.

Filtering out triggering content.

Adding extra safety for children.

Keywords provide granular control over the type of content you see.

Scheduling Your Focus

Not every site needs to be blocked all the time.

Enable Schedule, choose your start and end times, select active days, and save.

For example:

Block distractions from 9:00–17:00 on weekdays.

Restrict gaming during homework hours.

Limit social media late at night.

Scheduling makes blocking flexible and sustainable.

Focus Mode (Pomodoro Inspired)

Focus Mode helps you concentrate in short, intense bursts.

Choose a duration (25 minutes, 45 minutes, 1 hour, etc.) and click Start Session. A countdown begins, and blocking is enforced until time runs out.

Inspired by the Pomodoro Technique, this method:

Breaks work into manageable chunks.

Reduces overwhelm.

Creates urgency.

Boosts productivity.

Focus Mode is perfect when you need immediate, distraction-free momentum.

Redirect Distractions into Productivity

Instead of displaying a blocked page, you can redirect yourself to a productive website.

Enable Redirect, enter a URL (such as your to-do list or calendar), and save.

Good redirect ideas:

Task management tools

Google Calendar

A motivational page

A calming website

A custom goal reminder page

Each blocked attempt becomes a gentle push back toward your priorities.

Password Protection

The password feature adds accountability.

It prevents impulsive disabling, adds friction during moments of weakness, and protects settings in shared environments.

To set it up:

Enable password protection.

Create and confirm your password.

Save.

To change or remove it, you must enter your current password.

It’s not about making the extension impossible to bypass—it’s about strengthening your commitment to focus.

Import, Export, and Bulk Setup

Export your settings to a JSON file to create a full backup. This is useful if you reinstall your browser or move to a new computer.

Importing is just as simple—either paste the JSON data or upload the file.

You can also use Bulk Add Sites to paste multiple domains (one per line) and add them all at once, saving setup time.

Statistics and Progress Tracking

The Statistics page shows:

Total sites blocked

Active keywords

Number of block attempts

High block attempts aren’t failure—they’re success. Each attempt represents a distraction avoided.

You can reset statistics at any time to track new productivity goals.

Customization and Personal Touch

Customize your blocked page message to make it meaningful:

“Stay focused.”

“Remember your goals.”

“Not today.”

Small personalization can reinforce motivation and strengthen habits.

The extension is designed to evolve, with potential future enhancements such as multiple schedule profiles, deeper analytics, and cloud syncing.
