Better Translator Direct

About

Better Translator Direct helps you translate selected webpage text without relying on a shared translation proxy. Select text on any regular webpage, then translate it from the right-click menu or the extension popup. Results appear in a compact on-page overlay that supports loading, success, error, minimized, and expanded reading states.

Install it if you want more control over AI translation:

- Use your own provider account and API key instead of a bundled shared service.
- Switch between DeepSeek, Qwen3.5, Qwen-MT, Doubao, Hunyuan Translation, and a custom OpenAI-compatible endpoint.
- Keep technical formatting readable, including paragraphs, line breaks, lists, Markdown, code fences, URLs, model names, and product terms where possible.
- Tune translation behavior with source/target language, chunk size, concurrency, timeout, and local cache settings.
- Test the selected provider from the options page before using it on webpages.

Better Translator Direct is designed for people who read technical documents, product pages, research notes, developer docs, support content, or multilingual web pages and want provider choice instead of a one-size-fits-all translation service.

Privacy and data flow:

- The extension has no project-operated backend server.
- Selected text is sent directly from your browser to the translation provider you choose only when you request translation.
- Provider credentials and settings are stored locally in Chrome extension storage.
- Optional translation cache entries and recent task metadata are stored locally on your device.
- The project maintainer does not receive your selected text, translation output, API keys, or local cache.
