WA Web Sidebar Toggle adds a single button to WhatsApp Web's navigation rail that collapses the entire left sidebar chat list, unread counts, contact names, everything so you can focus on one conversation without your whole inbox in view.

WHAT IT DOES

One click (or Alt + S) hides the sidebar with a smooth animation. Click again to bring it back. That's it.

Works consistently across every WhatsApp Web tab:
• Chats
• Status
• Communities
• Settings

Switching between tabs doesn't pop the sidebar back open. WhatsApp rebuilds its layout constantly (it's a single-page app), so the extension continuously re-applies your chosen state in the background.

WHY YOU MIGHT WANT THIS

Focus: Unread counts and new message previews are designed to pull your attention. Hiding the list lets you finish what you're doing without the inbox competing for your focus.

Screen sharing: Presenting to colleagues or clients? One keystroke hides your entire contact list and inbox before you share your screen. No one sees who you're messaging or how many unread messages you have.

Cleaner workspace: If you keep WhatsApp Web open all day, a full-width conversation view with no distractions on the side just feels calmer.

KEYBOARD SHORTCUT

Alt + S: works anywhere on web.whatsapp.com, no need to click the button. The shortcut also appears in WhatsApp's own built-in Keyboard shortcuts reference (Ctrl + /).

PRIVACY

This extension collects no data. Zero. Nothing leaves your browser. There are no servers, no analytics, no tracking of any kind.

The only permissions it uses:
• web.whatsapp.com access to inject the toggle button
• storage to remember whether you've dismissed the "pin me" reminder
