  Subtitles PRO works entirely within your browser. No personal data, no browsing history, and no subtitle content is sent to our servers. Captions are fetched directly from YouTube's own subtitle API using your active session — the same way the YouTube website does it. Your preferences (language choice, download format, feature toggles) are stored locally on your device via Chrome's storage API.

  - scripting — injects the subtitle panel into YouTube pages and reads YouTube's internal player API to fetch caption data
  - activeTab — scopes panel injection to your currently active tab on user action only
  - storage — saves your preferences (language, format, feature settings) locally on-device
  - downloads — saves TXT/SRT subtitle files to your disk when you click Download
  - cookies — reads your Google session (from notebooklm.google.com) to enable the optional NotebookLM integration
  - tabs — detects YouTube page navigation to correctly initialize and reset the panel on SPA route changes

  Q: Does it work on live streams?
  A: Yes. The extension detects both /watch?v= and /live/ URLs and loads available live captions when present.
  
  Q: Can I get subtitles in a language other than the video's original?
  A: Yes. If YouTube offers auto-translation for a video, Subtitles PRO lets you select any target language from the language picker. These are the same translations YouTube itself provides.
  
  Q: Does it work on videos with no subtitles?
  A: If YouTube has no captions (manual or auto-generated) for a video, there is nothing to display — the extension cannot generate subtitles on its own.
  
  Q: What's the SRT format good for?
  A: SRT files include timestamps for each subtitle line. They're compatible with video editors (DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, CapCut), translation tools, and accessibility software.
  
  Q: Do I need a NotebookLM account?
  A: The NotebookLM feature is optional and only works if you're logged in to Google with a NotebookLM-enabled account. You can disable the NLM buttons in the Options page.
  
  Q: Does it work on YouTube Music or YouTube Kids?
  A: No — the extension is scoped to *.youtube.com watch and live pages only.
