Smart Checkout Guard helps shoppers spot common checkout and pricing risks on the page they are viewing. When the user opens the extension and taps Scan, it reads the visible text of that active tab only and runs a local, rule-based check for patterns such as aggressive subscription wording (for example free trial combined with auto-renew), unclear refund or return language, and hints that international shipping, taxes, or customs could change the final landed cost. It may highlight a few matching phrases on the page and shows a short summary in the popup, including plain-language import/tax context for the buyer destination the user selects. The extension does not run in the background on its own, does not replace legal or tax advice, and is only a one-page awareness aid when the user chooses to scan.
