About

BriefChat — Summarize & Chat with Any Web Page

BriefChat opens a side panel next to any web page and instantly gives you a clear, 2–3 sentence summary of what you're reading. No copying, no tab-switching, no pasting into ChatGPT. Just click the icon and get the gist.

How it works

Open any article, blog post, documentation page, or news story. Click the BriefChat icon in your toolbar and a side panel slides open with a summary of the page. BriefChat also generates a few suggested questions based on the content — click one to immediately start a conversation grounded in what you're reading.

Chat with the page

Ask anything about the content. BriefChat keeps the full page context in mind so it can answer follow-up questions, explain concepts, pull out specific details, or compare points from the article — all without you needing to re-read or search manually.

Free to use, no sign-up required

BriefChat works right out of the box. You get unlimited page summaries and 3 free chat questions per day, powered by a backend proxy — no account, no API key, no setup needed.

Bring your own API key for unlimited access

If you want unlimited chat, paste your own API key in the settings. BriefChat supports four major AI providers:

- OpenAI (GPT-4o)
- Anthropic Claude (claude-3-5-sonnet)
- Google Gemini (gemini-2.0-flash)
- xAI Grok (grok-3)

Your key is stored locally in Chrome's secure storage and is never sent to BriefChat's servers — it goes directly to the provider's API.

Privacy-first design

BriefChat only reads the content of the page you're actively viewing, and only when you open the panel. It does not track your browsing history, collect personal data, or run in the background.
