About

🌱 Graft — save the web as Markdown notes you own

Right-click any page, PDF, or image — Graft writes a complete,
auto-linked Markdown note straight to a folder on your disk.
Frontmatter, [[wikilinks]], backlinks, even Mermaid diagrams.
Open the folder in Obsidian, Logseq, VS Code, or any text editor.
Your knowledge, your files, your format.

📄 LOSSLESS CAPTURE

Graft is tuned for transcription, not summarization. A long wiki page
becomes a long note. A research paper keeps every citation. Every
chapter, every list item, every reference — preserved in full. You
give the source once; Graft makes sure nothing is lost.

🔗 AUTO-LINKING

Graft sees your existing notes before writing, so new captures link
to old ones via [[wikilinks]]. Backlinks are injected into referenced
notes. Your knowledge graph grows itself — no manual linking.

✍️ ONE-CLICK CAPTURE

• Right-click → Graft entire page
• Right-click → Graft selected text
• Right-click → Graft this image
• Upload PDFs, Excel, CSV, or paste text from the dashboard
• Keyboard shortcut: Alt+Shift+S

📁 PLAIN MARKDOWN, FILES YOU OWN

Every note saves as a .md file in a folder you choose. No proprietary
database. No lock-in. Open your vault in:
• Obsidian
• Logseq
• VS Code (with Markdown All-in-One)
• Foam, Dendron, Zettlr
• Any text editor
• A plain folder + Finder/Explorer

🛡️ HONEST ABOUT PRIVACY

Your .md files never leave your disk. But three things do transit
the network — no hiding:

1. Capture: source page/PDF content is sent to the LLM so it can
write the note. Not stored server-side.
2. Embed: note chunks are sent once to be vectorized; vectors
return to your local IndexedDB. Source text not retained.
3. Ask: when you query your vault, top-matched chunks are sent
as context for the answer. Not persisted.

No background scanning. No passive tracking. No analytics on your
content. Backups before every merge. Shrink-guard rejects overwrites
that would shrink an existing note by >30%.

💬 ASK YOUR VAULT (OPTIONAL)

Chat across everything you've grafted. Answers cite specific notes.
Deep-reasoning toggle (🧠) for harder questions. Or skip Graft's
chat entirely and use Smart Connections, Logseq Copilot, or whatever
you already have — plain Markdown plays with everything.

⚡ QUEUE + CANCEL + REORDER

Graft five pages in a row. A live task panel shows each graft's
progress with real-time stage updates, elapsed timer, and byte
counts. Cancel a running graft mid-flight. Reorder queued items.
Everything runs serially — no merge conflicts.

🌳 BUILT FOR

• Researchers capturing papers and articles
• Students building study vaults
• Developers collecting technical docs
• Analysts grafting reports and data pages
• Anyone who wants a knowledge base they own — not a SaaS
  database they rent
