About
WikiVideos turns any article on the internet into a narrated video slideshow — right inside Chrome, with no account, no uploads, and no servers. Open any Wikipedia article (or any news article, blog, or research page), click the WikiVideos icon, and a full narrated video plays in seconds — complete with chapters, captions, and a YouTube-quality player. FEATURES • Works on any Wikipedia article in any language • Also works on news articles, blogs, and other web pages • 14+ narration languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Arabic, Hindi, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Dutch, Polish • Choose from all voices installed on your device (local TTS — no external API) • YouTube-style player: pause, mute, volume, scrub, fullscreen, loop • Playback speed control: 0.75× 1× 1.25× 1.5× 2× • Auto-hiding controls and keyboard shortcuts (Space, M, F, ←, →, L) • Chapter list builds as slides play — click any chapter to jump • Chapter tick marks on the progress bar so you can see the structure at a glance • Live captions bar synced to each slide's narration • Sidebar mode: the player slides in on the right so you can keep reading • Light and dark mode with persistent settings • All settings sync across your devices via Chrome sync HOW IT WORKS 1. Navigate to any Wikipedia article or web article 2. Click the WikiVideos toolbar icon 3. Choose your language, voice, and speed 4. Click "Generate WikiVideo" 5. The narrated slideshow plays instantly — seek, pause, loop, or go fullscreen WHO IT'S FOR • Students who absorb information better through video than reading • Language learners who want to hear articles read in their target language • Accessibility users who prefer audio to text • Researchers who want to skim articles while multitasking • Anyone who'd rather watch than read PRIVACY No account required. No data collected. Everything runs locally using your browser's built-in Web Speech API. Wikipedia content is fetched directly from Wikipedia's public API and is never stored or proxied. For other pages, text is extracted from the page and never leaves your device. Built for wikivideos.org — the open platform for collaborative educational video.
