GChat Custom Notifications replaces Google Chat's default notification system with a fully customizable sound alert. Whether you're deep in focus mode or working with multiple tabs open, never miss an incoming message again.

Choose your notification sound:
- 🎵 Built-in file — drop any MP3 or WAV into the extension folder
- 📁 Upload a file — load any audio file directly from your device (up to 4 MB)
- ▶ YouTube clip — paste any YouTube URL and pick the exact seconds to play

Fine-tune every detail:
- Set start and stop times to play only the part of the audio you want
- Adjust volume independently from your system settings
- Anti-spam cooldown prevents the sound from firing too frequently

Smart detection:
- Only triggers on incoming messages — your own messages are ignored
- Fingerprints each message to avoid duplicate alerts on page re-renders
- Automatically re-syncs when you navigate between conversations

Privacy first: everything runs locally in your browser. No data is collected, no servers are involved, no account required.
